All are welcome to attend our services. We want you to come and to enjoy taking part, regardless of age, belief and preference. So whether you like to pray and sing out loud, perhaps receive Communion and chat afterwards, or prefer to sit silently and then slip quietly away, we welcome you.

Choirs & music

Music plays a very significant part of Christian worship. It helps us to bring words alive and make them memorable, adding beauty to the liturgy and lifting the hearts of those sing and those who listen. Much of our well known church music over the centuries was composed to be performed in large churches and cathedrals.

The Organ

When the Cathedral burned in 1940, the fine ‘Father’ Willis organ of 1886 (identical to that in Truro Cathedral) was totally destroyed. A new cathedral presented the opportunity for a brand new organ to match it. Messrs Harrison & Harrison were appointed in 1952 and a provisional specification was drawn up.
