Civic Life of a Cathedral

Dr Nirmal Puwar, from Goldsmiths, University of London, has been awarded a British Academy Innovation Fellowship, for her new project 'Multicultural experiments in the civic life of a cathedral'.

This project intervenes and experiments with different ways in which multicultural lives can be connected to our outward facing modernist civic cathedral. Working with this challenge, Nirmal will spend some of her time in the cathedral archives, to discover multicultural experiments, as well as to use what is found in the archives, as a prompt for new possibilities. Nirmal mentions her relationship to the cathedral in the Spatial Delights podcast, with Dr Agata Lisiak, on Space Invading.

Her dialogue and experiments in the cathedral, will be building on her previous collaborative 'Noise of the Past' (AHRC, 2008), project, which was launched in the cathedral, to activate on post-colonial creative interventions, on war and memory.

If you would like to contribute to the project please contact Nirmal Puwar at email hidden; JavaScript is required.
