In 2022, Food Union, in collaboration with Coventry Cathedral and using funds from Coventry City of Culture, created a brand new garden outside the newly opened Centre of Reconciliation at Coventry Cathedral.
The Live and Dye Garden is an urban growing space in the city centre with a focus on plants that can be used for either medicinal purposes or can be harvested and used for dyes, inks and other design resources. It’s also a space that nurtures the incidental growth of Coventry's naturally occurring plants (or weeds) that have both herbal and practical qualities. Plants you can find in the garden include myrtle, valerian, woad, marshmallow, and lemon balm.
Currently the Live and Dye Garden is open for visits on every first Thursday of the month and intermittent workshops and activities are also held in the space. For more information follow Food Union on Instagram and Facebook or become a member by searching Food Union Coventry and filling out our short application form.
Garden visits are held on the first Thursday of the month from 2-4pm.
