A Service to Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women as Priests

Join us as we gather as a Diocese for this service of Holy Communion where we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ordination of women as priests.

The service will be looking back to 1994, celebrating where we are today as well as looking forward with excitement.

Looking back we will be giving thanks for the original 35, as well as the diocese and cathedral for acting so fast.

We will be celebrating the incredible ministry of women across the diocese today (lay and ordained) as well as looking to the future for our leaders to be.

There will be a mix of traditional and contemporary music, with readings and some liturgy from the 1994 service. Including preaching from Damares Gomes Hilton, our youngest ordiand, and Bishop Ruth Worsley will be presiding.

All are warmly invited to this service and to the refreshments which follow.

In conversation with Bishop Ruth and Dean John Witcombe

The Diocese of Coventry are celebrating of 30 years of ordaining women priests and showcasing just some of the amazing women who have shaped the Diocese of Coventry.

In the run up to our celebration service at Coventry Cathedral, Bishop Ruth and Dean John have a conversation about the journey so far. They talk about the struggles, history and joy that this significant date represents and remember Women who pioneered in a more hostile landscape.
