What do ICON Schools do?
ICONS embrace the three themes of its sister organisation, the Community of the Cross of Nails.
Each ICON School brings these three themes to life in ways that reflect its unique context. This might include restorative practices, peace-building and reconciliation lessons, creative approaches using art and picture books to nurture empathy and forgiveness, or pupil-led projects that build bridges with the local community.
How we support your school
We can and will be as involved as you want us to be. We provide teacher and pupil training on conflict resolution and reconciliation, and you will have access to a wealth of resources to use in your school.
Become an ICONS Champions
Our training course equips teachers to lead peacebuilding in their schools. Across three interactive sessions, you’ll explore the origins of ICON Schools and the Cross of Nails, dive into our core themes and learn practical strategies for fostering empathy, inclusion, and reconciliation. From restorative practices to curriculum ideas and community partnerships, this course provides the tools to create a culture of peace and justice in your school.
Become an ICONS Ambassador - Make Peace Happen!
Our Ambassador Training is all about turning pupils into playground peacemakers! Through lively, interactive sessions—online or in person—students discover what conflict really means and learn creative ways to resolve it. They’ll explore how to be the “bridge” between friends, celebrate differences, and make their school a happier, more harmonious place. It’s hands-on, inspiring, and designed to help young leaders shine!
