Coventry Cathedral receives Cathedral Music Trust grant

We are delighted to announce a grant from the Cathedral Music Trust, to support our organ scholarship over the next year.

The grant, providing £3,200 to Coventry Cathedral’s organ scholarship, will support and help preserve an integral part of our worship here at Coventry Cathedral by supporting a new generation of organists.

Cathedral Music Trust aims to enrich the present and secure the future of cathedral music, campaigning on behalf of cathedral musicians and teams, supporting their work through grants, whilst continuing to encourage the pursuit of excellence in sacred choral and organ music.

Luke Fitzgerald, Acting Director of Music said:

"The CMT Organ Scholarship at Coventry provides an excellent, unique opportunity for an exceptional student organist to benefit from the world-class organ, to gain experience and hone their skills in Cathedral Music. We are so very pleased that the CMT continues to make this opportunity possible so we can keep training the Cathedral Organists of tomorrow, and continue to benefit from the talent and ideas which our organ scholars bring each year."

Coventry Cathedral’s organ is unique among UK Cathedrals, built in conjunction with the New Cathedral opened in 1962. Constructed and maintained by Harrison and Harrison of Durham, this magnificent instrument supports the musical life of the Cathedral including the Cathedral’s three choirs.
