A farewell to Luke Fitzgerald

Having joined the Cathedral Community as Assistant Director of Music at Easter 2021, Luke Fitzgerald is returning to Cambridge to take up the role of Director of Music at Pembroke College. During his time at Coventry Cathedral he has worked variously as Assistant Director of Music and as Acting Director of Music since Easter 2021. During this busy period in the Cathedral’s life he has worked closely with Rachel Mahon during Coventry’s year as City of Culture, the Cathedral’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and has led the choirs on a number of tours including most recently to Romania.

Luke takes over from internationally-acclaimed organist Anna Lapwood, who as well as taking the College’s undergraduate choir from strength to strength founded the Pembroke College Girls Choir in 2018. As Director of Music, Luke will direct the College’s two choirs in Chapel, act as a mentor to the College’s Organ Scholars and support the wider musical life of the College including the College Music Society and events in the College Auditorium.
