Is there a talented video-maker in your school?
Coventry Cathedral is launching a competition for schools to create their own 3 minute Cathedral film using professional footage by Sky Sports cameraman Chris Noonan of Pin Sharp Ltd.
Local businessman Michael Mogan MBE has provided a ÂŁ100 Amazon voucher prize to be awarded to the winning entry.
24 minutes of film rushes, taken from a recently commissioned Virtual Tour of the Cathedral site, will be made available to schools to support the Media Studies curriculum. Students are encouraged to think creatively and differently, applying their knowledge and understanding of media production, theoretical perspectives and audience engagement to create their own unique Cathedral film. They might utilise graphics to help tell the story of the Cathedral, include their own bespoke voice-over, or even gather their own new materials from interviews filmed with school staff/students to help them tell the story for themselves.Â
A link to download the footage can be obtained by emailing Chris directly: pinsharp@hotmail.co.uk Film entries should be sent to the same email address via We Transfer or Dropbox by Weds 31st March 2021. You may need to compress the film to keep within the 2GB limit.Â
The panel of judges, which includes Chris Noonan (a professional broadcast freelance videographer), will be looking for a fresh creative approach targeted at a specific audience of your choice. The challenge will be to give your personal take on the Cathedralâs own story. You may choose to focus on just one aspect of the Cathedral, or give an overview. The 3-minute time limit for the finished film is deliberately demanding â but feel free to complement our existing footage with content of your own. You will need to select an appropriate piece of music as your soundtrack, and all creative and artistic decisions will be of your choosing.
ENJOY! BE CREATIVE!Â
