Somewhere in the last decade, John Grant established himself as one of the greatest musical chroniclers of the American Dream, angled mostly from its flipside. A compulsive over-sharer, Grant lays it all out for careful cross-examination in his biographical work. At one end of his musical rainbow, he is the battle-scarred piano-man, at the other, a robust electronic auteur. A unique chance to see John Grant in the stunning setting of Coventry Cathedral where he will play on the Cathedral Grand Piano, a collection of greatest hits from his ten year repertoire including some from his highly acclaimed classic album ‘Queen of Denmark’ and new release ‘Boy from Michigan’. Expect moments of breathtaking beauty in its completely transfixing raw, heartfelt eloquence.
This event is part of Terry Hall presents Home Sessions, four huge days of gigs, DJ sets and film screenings staged in iconic Coventry locations. Legendary frontman of the Specials, Terry Hall brings over 40 UK and international artists together for one incredible festival.
TOGETHER WE CAN ALL SEE IT SAFELY
city of Culture are staging this event in line with guidance following the Government’s relaxation of COVID regulations regarding social distancing, which is no longer mandatory. To make this event as safe and comfortable as possible we continue to operate on a reduced capacity, however. Limited socially distanced areas will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
To keep your fellow audience members, artists and our team as safe as possible, we expect all our audience and team members to wear face coverings (except those medically exempt). We also encourage everyone to take a lateral flow test before travelling; this too is for everyone’s benefit, because together we can all help each other enjoy a safe and comfortable visit.
This session is recommended for 18+
