Restoring the rose garden, thank you Network Rail!

We were delighted to host a corporate volunteering group from Network Rail this week. The group took on the not insignificant task of restoring the rose garden behind St Michaels House to its former glory – and even went one further by staining all the furniture and pots in the garden a relaxing sage green.

The team worked hard all day, clearing the ground, weeding, sweeping, sanding and painting. They donated plants and topsoil and planted new roses. The results were amazing.

The rose garden, now a peaceful, relaxing haven, while not publicly available, will be greatly used by staff and volunteers as well as an important space for schools and our reconciliation.

The group took great pride in their achievement, and told us they thoroughly enjoyed the day. At least two of the group will be signing up as permanent volunteers to help us maintain the beautiful garden they created, thank you, Network Rail.

If any other organisations would like to offer a group volunteering day, we would love to hear from you.
