Coventry Cathedral is calling on local musicians, choirs, bands and performers to be part of something unprecedented – 24 hours of continuous live music taking place on 25th and 26th September 2026 from 4pm - 4pm.
The Music Marathon will showcase talent from across Coventry whilst raising funds for the Cathedral Choir's tour to Malta in October 2026. The choristers will represent Coventry and the Cathedral internationally, sharing our core mission of peace and reconciliation through music and worship.
Talking about the 24 Hour Music Marathon, Joe Watson, Acting Director of Music says,
"In a first for Coventry Cathedral, we're bring 24 hours of non-stop music to the Cathedral, involving musicians from across the city. We're inviting local musicians, choirs, bands to get in touch with us to be part of this fabulous event, which is being held to support the Choristers trip to Malta in 2026, representing Coventry and the Cathedral oversees. A cultural hub at the heart of the city
As Coventry's largest heritage venue in the city centre, Coventry Cathedral is committed to being a vibrant cultural space. The Music Marathon embodies this vision – inviting the community to be part of something meaningful.
Whether you're a solo performer, part of a school group, theatre ensemble, choir or band, there's a place for you. The cathedral welcomes all performers whose music is sympathetic to the sacred space – acoustic and contemporary genres are particularly encouraged.
How to get involved
Performance slots available:
- Friday evening (adult slots)
- Saturday morning (all ages, 30–60 minute slots)
