On Thursday the 31st of March our Welcome Team attended the West Midlands Tourism Awards 2022, where we were thrilled to have been awarded silver in the ‘Large Visitor Attraction’ category, coming second to Royal Air Force Museum Cosford and beating stiff competition from Compton Verney Art Gallery & Park and Ikon Gallery Birmingham.
Held at Coombe Abbey, the awards celebrated the very best of the region’s tourism and leisure businesses and was a chance to reflect upon what has been a very trying time for the industry.
As silver award winners the Cathedral will now automatically progress on to the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2022 where, if shortlisted, we will have the chance to be recognised as a national winner.
This award is a fantastic achievement for the Cathedral and recognises not only the high standard of welcome which our visitors receive from our staff and volunteers, but also the hard work of everyone within the organisation who each play their part in making the Cathedral a very special place to visit.
