“We are so excited to be welcoming this event to the Cathedral Undercroft Spaces. We are hoping that in giving our space to this event, we can listen, learn and then implement the learning from a group that is often marginalised. We look forward to being guests in our own building as we continue our work of peace building and reconciliation.”

Join us for Coventry’s FIRST cross-community queer community day – a daylong event packed with workshops, discussions, and taster sessions hosted by a range of queer groups across the city!

This event is now fully booked.

The city is greatly deprived of a LGBTQ community centre, despite being home to over seventeen thousand people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Other in the 2021 Census. A Centre would be an accessible, welcoming space, within which we can build and sustain our wider community. Given the current socio-political climate, this space is needed now more than ever. This community day is an opportunity for us to collectively fill that need, with ambitions of becoming a larger campaign for a community centre in Coventry.

Alongside our workshops, discussions, and taster sessions, the community day will host a book swap and a community closet. All attendees are welcome to bring any books or clothing they no longer want or need and swap it with a book or item of clothing you do want or need – it's as simple as that!

All attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drink (no alcoholic beverages permitted).

Across the day, all attendees will have the chance to meet and interact with the following local grassroots groups:

  • Coventry Trans Pride (@coventrytranspride)
  • Prism Coventry (@prismcoventry)
  • Out in Cov (@outincov)
  • Queer & Decolonial Book club (@coventry_q_and_d_bookclub)
  • Queer Kinship Coventry (@queerkinship.cov)
  • SCSSR (@scssr.events)
  • Acorn Coventry (@acorncoventry)

This is a free event, however, we do ask anyone who is able to, to contribute to the running costs of the day through a solidarity donation. You can do this via the Coventry Cathedral booking system, or on the day! 100% of proceeds go to running costs for the day, and anything left over will go to future events.

We ask for any attendees under 14 to come accompanied by an adult, where appropriate. If you have a ticket, but are no longer able to attend, please let us know. There will be a quiet space for all who need it; we ask all attendees to respect the space.

If you have any questions about the event, you can contact any of the groups involved. Or you can send an email to email hidden; JavaScript is required."
