Paul Leddington Wright was the Cathedral's Director of Music from 1984-1995 after which he went part-time as Associate Director of Music in order to focus more on his BBC work as principal conductor and arranger for 'Songs of Praise'. In that capacity, he conducted the programme's 40th and 50th anniversary programmes in the Royal Albert Hall as well the 'Big Sing' which ran for 12 years. He continued as Director of Music for the Coventry Cathedral Chorus, finishing his tenure after 37 years in 2021. At that time he and his wife, Sheila, moved down to Maidenhead. 2 years ago, he assumed the reins of conductor of the Renaissance Voices - a chamber choir of c.30 in Maidenhead. Additionally, he frequently deputizes as conductor for other choirs' rehearsals. He is a Music Leader for the 11am service at St. Mary's Church, Maidenhead, and also frequently deputizes as organist at churches in Windsor and Bray. Last December, he played for 2 different Christmas events at the Royal Albert Hall and now enjoys a life of free-lance work in the area.
