Alastair Stone started his musical journey as a chorister at Coventry Cathedral, receiving organ lessons from Kerry Beaumont, and was organ scholar here before going to university. During sixth form attended the Royal Birmingham Junior Conservatoire to study piano and composition alongside his time at the Cathedral. He went to Pembroke College, Oxford, to read Music, alongside which he was organ scholar at both Pembroke College and Harris Manchester College concurrently. During this time, he was heavily involved in musical activity around Oxford, including as an accompanist for the Oxford Opera Society and musical director for a production of ‘Guys and Dolls’ at Pembroke. Following his graduation, he was appointed as Assistant Organist at Ripon Cathedral and later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, receiving prizes for attaining the highest marks across all areas of the examination. Alongside his duties at Ripon, he works as a freelance accompanist and recitalist across North Yorkshire.
