Join us at Coventry Cathedral for our popular Monday Lunchtime Organ Recitals, running from May to September 2026. These free, half‑hour concerts (12.30–1.00pm) offer a perfect midday pause, showcasing the magnificent cathedral organ played by distinguished guest organists from across the UK and beyond. Each week brings a fresh and varied programme, from much‑loved classics to contemporary and newly composed works, performed in the inspiring surroundings of this iconic building. All are warmly welcome.

11th May - Pascal Bachmann (St John’s College, Cambridge)

Pascal Bachmann is an organist, composer and conductor, currently studying at St John’s College, Cambridge, where he is also an organ scholar. From 2020 to 2025 he held a music scholarship at Eton College, where he studied organ with James Orford, Richard Pinel and Christopher Allsop, and frequently accompanied the College Chapel Choir.

In 2025, Pascal attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO), winning the Limpus Prize. Additionally, he was Highly Commended at the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition. The previous year, Pascal participated in the Young Talents Class at the Haarlem International Organ Festival, and in December 2024, he was awarded First Prize at the London Organ Competition.

As a composer, Pascal was a winner of the BBC Young Composer Competition in 2023, leading to performances of his works by the BBC Concert Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. The same year, he received a commission from the Murten Classics Festival, where his music was performed by the Hilaris Chamber Orchestra.

Pascal studies conducting with Roland Melia and has previously studied piano with Gareth Owen. Recent performances include Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major as soloist with the Brandenburg Sinfonia, and conducting repertoire such as Strauss’ Metamorphosen.
