Hosted by the Dean of Coventry, this event will discuss the book derived from the Lenten Lectures of 2016. There will be a 30 min. dialogue between the author Paul Gifford and Revd Greg Bartlem, of St Peter’s , Wellesbourne. This will explore Girard’s singular contribution to our understanding of the Passion of Christ, seen as a recapitulative event exposing humanity’s age-old nerve-point of sacred violence –and changing everything. How does it relate to echoes in many world mythologies? How does it help us with interfaith dialogues today? With understanding and combatting terrorism? How does it enable us square up to the larger perils of the modern world? Questions and discussion welcome.
