Its all been leading to this.

Food Union and Coventry Cathedral Events have teamed up to bring you our biggest 'Song and Soil' event yet.

Hosted in the grounds of the Coventry Cathedral Ruins, Food Union will be hosting a day of activities, children entertainment and music all in the name of food, the communal language we all share. We'll be joined on the day by previous 'Song and Soil' associates such as The Leicestershire Heritage association who'll be identifying your unknown apple varieties and offering unique tasting sessions. The Bedworth Seed Swap will be on hand to trade seed and offer some of their amazing heirloom varieties. We'll have blacksmithing and Woodworking demonstrations courtesy of Lady Bird Forge and The Conscious Carver. And of course there will also be plenty of children's activities as well. But it wouldn't be a Song and Soil event without these two factors. At 5 o'clock just in time for dinner, The Pod Café will be serving up a communal meal for everyone to share as our exciting line-up of music begins on the stage. We'll announce the musicians soon but expect some classic Food Union faces to make an appearance. But that's not it! You're encouraged to get involved as well and it wouldn't be a harvest festival with out tables full of glorious homegrown vegetables.

On the day we will have tables set up for local food growers to display their amazing harvests and a fun series of categories in which they'll be judged including;

• Most curious variety
• Flamboyant Flower Arrangement
• Mouth watering flavours
• Funniest looking vegetable
• Finest Forage
• Ornate vegetable arrangement

You can enter as an individual or organisation and take part in as many categories as you feel.

As well as this we'll be hosting our monthly crop swap and in the week leading up to the event, The Pod will be accepting crop donations for our communal meal in order to boost the amount of people we can feed. And did we mention this is all free? So join us on the 17th of September from 1pm for what promises to be an amazing celebration of all things Food, Gardening and Community.
