JJW-thumbI arrived as Dean in Coventry in early 2013, and I am still overwhelmed by the beauty of our building and the treasure within it and the extraordinary power of the story behind the Cathedral, ruined and rebuilt.

It is wonderful and renewing place for anyone of any age to visit (and my conversations with visitors have confirmed my impression that it has a great impact on those of any faith, or of none). The narrative of chaos and destruction being taken and offered back to God, issuing in resurrection and new life, is one that speaks into the reality of lives of many of our visitors, and many of our communities.

Simply to spend time in Coventry Cathedral, which includes both the Ruins and the new building, is for many a transforming experience. The Cathedral is a physical expression of hope, of love, and of celebration – not solely for Christians, but for all citizens of Coventry and Warwickshire, and indeed the nation and wider world. It is home to a vibrant Christian community, but offers a place of refuge to all to rediscover the heart of their lives, and commit themselves once again to playing their own part in building a culture of peace for all to enjoy.

We are delighted to welcome you.

The Very Reverend John Witcombe, MA, MPhil
Dean of Coventry

We open our doors to visitors daily all year round and you are, of course, most welcome to join us for worship any day of the week. Click here for details.

The Cathedral is free to enter but visitor donations are crucial in enabling the Cathedral to continue offering free admission in the long term. If you are able to gift aid your donation, that will increase its value to us by 25 pence for every pound sterling.

Information about visiting the Cathedral can be found here.

We hope that you will both enjoy and be inspired by our Cathedral, by its history and buildings and also by our work and life here.
