Can I just turn up with my class at the Cathedral?

We always ask that you phone or email to book in your group. Even if you would like to pop in for 10 minutes or visit the ruins as there are often events or services when the whole building is closed to the public. For the majority of the time the answer is yes, but without booking may mean you are charged the entrance fee for every adult and child over the age of 10.

How do I make a booking?

Please telephone the Bookings Officer on +44 (0)24 7652 1256 or use the Enquiry Form on this website. We will then send you additional information sheets and a booking form for completion.

schools-02Can you give me a choice of dates? Can I book at short notice?

Sometimes. Dates from October to December and April to July tend to get booked up very early. It is always worth telephoning us to see if we have spaces available.

Do I have to pay?

Charges for groups working with the school guides are reviewed annually and depend on the programme required. Schools within the city of Coventry have some charges remitted.

When do I pay?

You will be invoiced after your visit. Please do not pay on the day.

What happens if I need to cancel a visit?

Please give us as much notice as you can. Sometimes we are able to offer you another date. If you cancel without giving us ten full working days’ notice we will have to charge you a cancellation fee of 50% of the total cost.

How long can we spend at the Cathedral?

Usually as long as you need. Programmes led by the school guides are of varying length – please see the Schools Tours Programme section for further details. Once these programmes are completed you are very welcome to stay on in the Cathedral so that your pupils can undertake tasks you have set.

What facilities are there at the Cathedral for my group?

In addition to the Nave and Chapels, we also have St Michael’s Hall Treasury, the shop and toilets, a covered lunch space, the Tower and Blitz Exhibition. Disabled access to some of the public areas is restricted.  There is no parking at the Cathedral itself. For directions and a map click here.

Can I make a pre-visit?

Yes. If you need to meet a member of the Schools Team, please arrange this beforehand by telephoning +44 (0)24 7652 1257. We work office hours, Monday to Friday.
