The Angel of the Eternal Gospel

One of Coventry Cathedral’s beautiful and iconic angels was smashed by thieves in the early hours of Friday 24th January 2020. The Angel is badly damaged and we are working with international modern glass experts to establish whether it can be repaired or whether we will need to replace it. Whilst we have insurance to cover our building, it is unlikely to cover the full cost of a new window panel.

We are hugely grateful to the many people who have said they would like to contribute to this cost so we are setting up an appeal for this straight away. At this stage we do not know the total cost of the repair or replacement, but expect it will be at least £20,000.

How can you help?

If you would like to make an online donation to our glass repair fund please click here or on the donate button below. We undertake to keep your money in a fund to draw on when required. If we raise more than is needed for this project, we will use your gift for other essential work in the maintenance or mission of the Cathedral.

If you would like more details about the project, or would prefer to make your donation once the actual costs are known, please email fundraising@coventrycathedral.org.uk or ring 02476 521226. Thank you.
