If you’ve been in the Ruins over the last few days you may have noticed that some areas along the internal walls are fenced off and wondered what might be going on, so let us tell you why!
The inside of the Old Cathedral was never meant to be exposed to the elements, but since the Blitz the inside has been outside and this is starting to take its toll. Some of the monuments are at real risk of being lost forever, so we are thrilled that some urgent conservation and stabilisation work is taking place to prevent this.
The work is being carried out between March and May by Skillington Workshop, supervised by A&RME Architects and the Cathedral’s Director of Property.
