The Cathedral community said farewell to its Director of Music, Kerry Beaumont, on Sunday following his retirement at the end of August. A short ceremony after the main morning service enabled members of the choirs and the congregation to celebrate his much-appreciated ministry here for the last 14 years, listening to a number of moving speeches and watching as a number of gifts were presented to Kerry and his wife Leslie.

In recognition of the enormous amount that Kerry has contributed to the life of the Cathedral, it has been announced that the Cathedral Chapter has decided to invite him to become Organist Emeritus, an honour which will enable him to continue, from time to time, to play the instrument he has so much made his own during his time here.
