Having been able to open the Ruins for private prayer between 10 am and 1 pm (now till 2 pm) from Monday June 15th and the New Cathedral from Monday June 22nd, we are open for public worship on Sunday mornings, when the Cathedral Eucharist will be celebrated at 10.30 am.

New measures to keep people safe will include limiting the number of people allowed in at any one time and signage to remind people of the health and safety around social distancing. Our commitment to the health and safety of our visitors and staff means that we are also asking people not to bring flowers or other tributes into the Ruins.

The toilets will not usually be open at this time and will be part of a later phase.

Whilst we are delighted to be able to welcome those who wish to come to the Cathedral, we must make sure that our buildings are safe for our staff and visitors.

We want everyone to feel safe and welcomed here at the Cathedral, so we ask for your assistance with the following:

If you have any of the following symptoms please do not visit.

  • High temperature
  • New continuous cough
  • Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

If you are unsure then please do not visit. If you become unwell during your visit please alert a member of staff.
Please follow social distancing guidelines and remain 2 metres away from non-household members.
Please follow the directional signage.
Please avoid touching the artwork and statues in both the Ruins and New Cathedral.

We are taking the health and well-being of all who access the Cathedral very seriously, so in order to ensure the health and well-being of all, we have taken the following steps to ensure your safety.

  • Increased cleaning across the Cathedral campus
  • Regular hand-washing by staff
  • Hand sanitiser available to all
  • Social distancing measures in place
  • One-way system introduced
  • Relevant PPE for those staff members who require it
  • Sneeze screens installed at relevant points

The Cathedral is a very special place to us all, and we want everyone who visits to have a positive experience. We hope that by working together we will be able to achieve this, and if you have any concerns or comments during your time with us please make a member of staff aware. Enjoy your time with us.
