Here are some of our plans for celebration and worship during Advent and Christmas. While lockdown continues, these will only be accessible online via the Cathedral’s Facebook Live feed (tiny.cc/cathfacebook) and on our YouTube channel (tiny.cc/cathyoutube). These are in addition to our normal range of services (for which please click here for details).

Sunday 29th November – Advent Sunday

6.30 pm – ‘Light in our Darkness’ – a special service of music, readings and prayers for the start of Advent. Online only.

Sunday 13th December

4 pm – ‘Carols by Candlelight’ – carols to listen to, with readings and prayers for Christmas. Entry is free but you will need a ticket from Eventbrite (details to be released soon). A small number of paper tickets will be available from the Welcome Desk at the West Screen. Also accessible online.

Monday 21st December

5.30 pm – Blue Christmas Service – a quiet service of Holy Communion for those feeling sad at Christmas. Thursday 24th December – Christmas Eve

‘Journey to Bethlehem’ will not take place this year but we are hoping to organise a family-friendly ‘Stations of Christmas’ event during the afternoon.

5 pm – ‘Form of a Servant’ – the Cathedral’s unique reflection on the Christmas story, with a sequence of moving music and readings. Entry is free but to guarantee admission you will need a ticket from Eventbrite (details to be released soon). A small number of paper tickets will be available from the Welcome Desk at the West Screen. Also accessible online.
