Pet Blessings

Coinciding with the feast day of Francis of Assisi the patron Saint of Animals and the Environment, on Saturday 5th October from 12-2pm, join us for informal pet blessings led by our clergy in the Ruins. This is a family event and all are welcome to come for this lovely occasion as we celebrate the animals in our lives. This is a drop-in event so you can come anytime between 12-2pm, and you are welcome to stick around and enjoy the activities in the Ruins while being around other pet lovers and their animal-friends!

Safety Considerations for the Pet Blessing Service

All pet owners are responsible for their pets and are expected to maintain behavioural control of their pet(s) at all times. We do require all animals to be on a lead or in a carrier to prevent accidental escape

Please consider whether your pet would be comfortable in a busy (and noisy!) environment before attending. Please allow personal space between your pet and other pets. Some may wish to bring pictures of pets who cannot come in “person” or which are uncomfortable in the presence of other animals.

This is a family friendly event so please be mindful of the animals you bring, and do not bring any poisonous animals.

What do I do when I arrive with my pet?

This is an informal drop-in so you can arrive between 12-2pm. When you arrive, enjoy the space of the Ruins and activities on offer. During busy times there will be a queuing system, so please follow the signs and instructions from our team. Coventry Cathedral clergy will be in the Ruins to bless animals, or pictures of those that cannot attend. After receiving the blessing you will also be gifted a certificate to take away with you if you wish!

Can I bring my animal if they are sick?

If your pet is sick, please do not bring your animal to the blessing service, however you are invited to bring a photo of your pet for a personal blessing alternatively you can fill out the online prayer request below.

I'm not a Christian, can my pet still be blessed?

You are most welcome to bring your pet to be blessed regardless of your faith or non-faith.

Where can I park?

Please be aware that we are a city Cathedral so there isn't direct parking outside the Cathedral. You can find information on the nearest car parks on our web page here, please keep this inconsideration when thinking of bringing your pets.

Submit Prayer Requests below

If you aren't able to attend or bring a photo of your pet the drop-in Pet Blessings, you can submit a prayer request via the form below.
