Current opportunities to work at Coventry Cathedral

Coventry Cathedral employs a number of staff members who do a variety of jobs ranging from office administration, to maintenance, to teaching music and many more.

We periodically have job opportunities and volunteer roles that are advertised on this page as well as internships that are suitable for students or graduates.

Head of Property and Fabric

Closing date 16th May at noon.
Salary: £37,000 – £40,000 (for 28 hours dependent on experience) plus 8% non-contributory pension.
Hours: 28 hours a week part time.

We are looking for a new Head of Property and Fabric who will be responsible for overseeing major repairs, health and safety and maintenance for the property and land at the Cathedral. Operations Support (Verger)

Part time 20 hours a week, Salary:£9,918 per annum

The role of Verger is crucial to the fulfilment of the Cathedral’s mission and ministry. We are looking for a committed Christian to take on the important Verger responsibilities from providing assistance in the delivery of worship services, welcoming visitors and worshippers, opening and locking up buildings and other tasks as required.

We need someone with a mature attitude, is reliable and able to work under pressure, with minimum supervision. The Verger team works closely with the Cathedral Ministers and cooperatively with colleagues, staff and volunteers across all departments of the Cathedral.

The post will offer fixed weekly hours of 20, but as a team player, you will need to be wiling to operate flexible shifts with your colleagues to provide cover on the rota. The post is subject to DBS clearance, and will include weekend and bank holiday working.

Acting Assistant Director of Music

Coventry Cathedral is well known internationally as a striking example of twentieth century church architecture and for its ministry of reconciliation. It has a committed core of worshippers who delight in the combination of traditional and contemporary liturgy and music and it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors both from this country and abroad. We are seeking to appoint someone who will join our team of musicians to contribute positively to our fine musical tradition as we reach out to a generation not used to church.

The post is flexible with a salary range of £5878 to £10,100 depending on the contract agreed and is for a fixed term of nine months from September to May 2023 inclusive. The core position would be 8.5 hours per week and consists of playing the organ at the Cathedral’s four main services per week plus any special services. Work is largely over the weeks of term time together with Christmas, Holy Week and Easter. You will need to operate flexibly to fit the needs of services and choristers. There is the option to add in work with the probationer choristers for 2.5 hours per week for an additional £1,243. There is also the option to add 8.5 hours of office administration to the post for an additional £3,162.

The post is subject to DBS clearance, and will include weekend and bank holiday working.
The closing date for applications is noon on 26 May and interviews will take place at the Cathedral on 7 and 8 June 2022. Shortlisted candidates will be informed on 27 May 2022.

It has a committed core of worshippers who delight in the combination of traditional and contemporary liturgy and music and it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors both from this country and abroad. We are
seeking to appoint someone who will join our team of musicians to contribute positively to our fine musical tradition as we celebrate our Diamond Jubilee this year.

The post offers an average of 7 hours per week, spread over two to six days and worked mostly over the weeks of term time, together with Christmas, Holy Week and Easter. You will need to operate flexibly to fit the needs of the Cathedral Choir. The contract offered will be for two years with the intention to extend this indefinitely.
