Plan Your Visit

With over 1,000 years of history across the Coventry Cathedral campus there is much to see and do!

We recommend that you start your journey by visiting the Ruins first (ideally entering from Cuckoo Lane) which was destroyed in the Coventry Blitz during WW2, and now recognised as an international symbol of The story of Coventry Cathedral, then onto explore the New Cathedral which is a modernist masterpiece featuring works by some of the greatest artists of the 1950s and 1960s.

Regular Opening Times

Monday - Saturday: 10.00am to 4.00pm

Sunday: 12.00pm to 3.30pm

We are a busy Cathedral which can affect our visiting hours. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend checking our full calendar for any closures or changes to visiting hours on specific dates before visiting. You can view the calendar here.

Please donate if you can

There is no charge for visiting The Ruins or the New Cathedral though, although as you can imagine welcoming so many visitors each day is expensive. It costs £3,000 per day to keep the Cathedral open. We are a self-funded organisation that does not receive any regular Government funding and rely on the generosity of our visitors to help us maintain our buildings for generations to come. So please donate if you can, either using the collection boxes just inside the New Cathedral or here online.

Children are welcome

Like the city of Coventry to which it belongs, Coventry Cathedral is a welcoming, multi-cultural place. We delight in greeting over 100,000 visitors each year, many of whom are children and people who proudly wear symbols of other faiths.

Dive deeper

We welcome groups to the Cathedral for those who want to dive a little deeper into our history. Our dedicated volunteers team provide guided tours and for group bookings (which include a guided tour), please contact us in advance for tours and group bookings to book in your slot. Our Tower Climb and Blitz Museum are also open on select days.

Alternatively, if you'd like to do a self-guided tour we recommend purchasing our Guidebook, which you can buy from our Gift Shop in the New Cathedral. The guidebook has the top points of interest in it, great for those short on time too!

Remember to check out our art exhibitions and creative events

In addition to our buildings, permanent artworks and exhibitions included within See & Do we usually have at least one temporary art exhibition at any one time, plus a whole schedule of plays, talks and other creative events, information about which can be found on our Events page.
