Together for Hope

Together for Hope: a partnership network with Coventry Cathedral, for those of other faiths, or none

Together for Hope was 'born' in 2018, a sister network to the global Community of the Cross of Nails (CCN). Inspired similarly by Coventry’s story of hope, forgiveness and reconciliation, Together for Hope’s partners - secular and non-Christian faith-based organisations - share a commitment to pursuing reconciliation and peace in their own contexts, while maintaining Coventry and its story as their focus and connection with other partners. We nurture each other through mutual support and fellowship.

We are working on plans to expand involvement in Together for Hope to individuals, too, very soon - do watch this space!

If you'd like to join the network as an organisation, the first step in becoming a Together for Hope partner is to email hidden; JavaScript is required and tell us about the work you’re doing and how a connection with Coventry could help in your work. We'd love to hear from you! If you haven’t already, we will invite you to visit the Cathedral so that we can meet you in person, guide you through our story of hope and reconciliation, and learn about you in turn.

Primarily an application is about building a relationship, but there is also a short written element, where we look for evidence of a commitment in your day to day work to these guiding priorities, shared across Together for Hope and the CCN:

  • Healing the wounds of history
  • Learning to live with difference and celebrate diversity
  • Building a culture of peace

Partners are also asked to be guided by the Pledge for Transformation, written specifically for Together for Hope, and to follow the words as a community regularly:

For love, which heals wounds,

we will stand.

For generosity, which opens space for hope,

we will stand.

For nurturing, which builds a culture of peace,

we will stand.

For compassion, which seeks the best for all,

we will stand.

For respect, which enables us to love with difference,

we will stand.

For humility, which allows healthy relationships with others,

we will stand.

Together for hope,

we will stand.

Applications are reviewed by our steering panel, and at the end of the process partners are presented with a beautiful handmade stained-glass presentation plaque, based on our Baptistry Window in the Cathedral which so well represents diversity and hope in the future, engraved with the partner’s name. The joining ceremony follows a formal pattern, but is normally a joyous occasion! and unique to the character of the partner organisation joining.

There are currently no membership or joining fees, but we do ask those partners who are able to cover the cost of the plaque, currently £250, and reimbursement of the travel costs of a senior Coventry ministry representative who will come to present it.

Please do contact us for any further information - we'd love to hear from you!
