piper-prints75 years after the Coventry Blitz, two new limited edition Piper screenprints are being offered to raise £100,000 for Coventry Cathedral. John Piper showed great generosity towards cathedrals and churches. We hope that in offering these prints we can help his contribution to endure. The sale catalgue can be viewed online here.

John Piper (1903-1992) was one of the leading 20th century British artists. An official war artist, he had a major impact on Coventry Cathedral, depicting the derelict architectural ruins the morning after the bombing of 14th November 1940 and then designing the staggering Baptistry window, one of the greatest stained glass windows in the world. During Piper’s lifetime, prints were often made of his paintings using the screen printing process. The prints offered here are handmade by master printmakers using the same traditional techniques, each of the 20 colours being applied separately through screens.

These two new prints are available at £495 each or together at the concessionary price of £875. £200 from the sale of each print goes to support Coventry Cathedral. Prices are for unframed prints but include VAT and UK delivery. To secure your prints phone 01572 821424 or buy online at goldmarkart.com.

Piper’s lifetime prints now sell for many thousands of pounds. This is a rare chance to acquire his work while supporting Coventry Cathedral – a cause that mattered greatly to him. The edition size is strictly limited to 250 copies. Each print bears Piper’s signature in the plate and is numbered in pencil. When these have been sold no further copies will be made. The prints are offered unframed, and will be accompanied by a certificate of authentication and a free documentary DVD on Piper. We can also provide handmade framing using museum-quality archival materials and cast acrylic glazing. Framing and delivery will be an extra £150 per print.
