Here are some of our plans for celebration and worship during Advent and Christmas. These are in addition to our normal range of services (for which please click here for details).

Sunday 1st December – Advent Sunday
6.30 pm – ‘Light in our Darkness’ – a special service of music, readings and prayers for the start of Advent. Entry is free and no tickets are needed.

Wednesday 4th December
6 pm – ‘Crisis’ Carol service – with the Boy Choristers of the Cathedral Choir and a Salvation Army Band. The service will be held in the Cathedral Ruins (or in the Porch of the New Cathedral if wet). Followed by refreshments. Entry is free and no tickets are needed. Come and support a really worthwhile cause!

Sunday 8th December
6 pm – ‘Christmas Psalm’ with singer/songwriter Rob Halligan. Entry is free and no tickets are needed.

Tuesday 10th December
6 pm – Remember Our Child Christmas Service – a special service for those who have suffered the loss of a child of any age. Entry is free and no tickets are needed.

Wednesday 11th December
12.30 pm – Lunchtime Carols in the City – celebrate Christmas with the Lord Mayor of the City of Coventry in a service lasting just 45 minutes designed for those who work in and around the centre of Coventry. Entry is free and no tickets are needed. Followed by refreshments provided by the Cathedral’s Choir Parents Association.

Saturday 14th December
2.30 pm and 6 pm – Christmas Concerts in aid of the NSPCC – with the Coventry Cathedral Chorus (formerly St Michael’s Singers), choristers of the Cathedral Choir and local school choirs. The Jaguar Land Rover Brass Band will feature in the 2.30 pm concert and the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra will take part in the 6 pm concert. Sunday 15th December
6.30 pm – ‘Carols by Candlelight’ – carols to sing and carols to listen to, with readings and prayers for Christmas. Entry is free and no tickets are needed.

Saturday 21st December
4.30 pm – BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Carol Service. Free tickets are available from the BBC.

Sunday 22nd December
10.30 am – The Cathedral Eucharist – with an opportunity to celebrate the contribution made to Cathedral life by Paul and Sheila Leddington Wright as Paul prepares to step down from his role as Associate Director of Music at the end of the year.
4 pm – Blue Christmas Service – a quiet service of Holy Communion for those feeling sad at Christmas. Entry is free and no tickets are needed.

Tuesday 24th December – Christmas Eve
3 pm – ‘Journey to Bethlehem’ for all the family. Come dressed as a nativity character! Entry is free and no tickets are needed.
7 pm – ‘Form of a Servant’ – the Cathedral’s unique reflection on the Christmas story, with a sequence of moving music and readings. Entry is free and no tickets are needed.
11 pm – Christmas Eucharist (at Holy Trinity). Entry is free and no tickets are needed.

Wednesday 25th December – Christmas Day
10.30 am – Christmas Eucharist with the Bishop of Coventry. Entry is free and no tickets are needed.

Sunday 29th December – The First Sunday after Christmas
5.10 pm – Kerry Beaumont plays Messiaen’s inspiring organ piece ‘La Nativité du Seigneur’. Entry is free and no tickets are needed. There will be a retiring collection.
