The Dean and Canons are delighted to welcome visitors to Coventry Cathedral.
We are an internationally-renowned centre, welcoming groups from all over the globe,
and are keen to help you make the most of your visit here.
The following notes are to assist you in planning your visit and to ensure that your party
may enjoy our unique cathedral.
Opening Hours
Daily 0900-1700. The Cathedral may occasionally be closed to visitors due to special events.
Group leaders who make enquiries about bookings will be advised of closures when they contact us.
Closures and Restrictions
Access to the Ruins may be restricted on:
- 24-27 June due to the set up, performance and derigging of the Shakespeare's Globe Touring Company
- 23 August due to the set up, performance and derigging of the Lord Chamberlaine's Men Theatre Company
- 24 August for (public) Cultural Olympiad event marking the handover from Beijing to London.
St Michael's Hall Treasury
The Treasury is situated in St Michael's Hall.
This is the spacious area designed for the assembly of choir, ministers and clergy before services.
The original charred cross from the Ruins is on display along with treasures from the old and new Cathedrals.
A continuous loop video about the Cathedral, and its mission in building peace and reconciliation in the community,
and the wider world is screened throughout the day.
The Treasury is open daily Monday to Friday from 11:00am to 3:00pm,
and on Saturdays is open subject to availability of voluntary staff.
St Michael's Tower
The Tower can be climbed all year round, weather permitting, and offers spectacular views over Coventry.
Visitors are reminded that they climb at their own risk. The charge for adults is £2.50; children under 16 are charged £1, under 5s go free. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
