Visitor information
Finding us
If you wish to visit the Cathedral, please see the map above for our location. For car parking we suggest Pool Meadow public car park, just 200 metres away. We are a 10-15 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride from the railway station, and about 100 metres from the main Bus Station.
The main entrance to the Cathedral can be found off Priory Street opposite Coventry University or via St Michael’s Avenue from the City Centre.
For callers to the Cathedral Offices, please go to Youell House, 1 Hill Top.
Important Information for Coach Drivers
There are two convenient set down/pick up points in the heart of Coventry - Priory Street at the foot of the Cathedral steps - where there are coach bays for drop off only - and Hales Street next to the Transport Museum.
Coach parking is available at White Street car park. There are six spaces available, operating on a pay and display basis, at a cost of £2.50 per day. Overnight stays are not permitted.
PLEASE NOTE: You should use the postcode CV1 5FB if using satellite navigation as this will enable you to drop passengers at the front of the Cathedral near the Visitor Centre Entrance. Other roads around the Cathedral are not accessible for coaches and should not be used.
Disabled Access
The Cathedral is not completely accessible for disabled people although we are working hard to achieve this - not easy within the architectural constraints of this 1960’s building.
Currently the Chapel of Christ the Servant is only accessible via a number of long, low steps. The Chapel of Unity is not currently accessible while we seek to renew ramp access and reinstate use of the external entrance (which we have had to close for health and safety reasons). The lower ground floor restaurant is accessible by exiting the Cathedral and via Hill Top or Priory Street using the access at undercroft level at the East End of the building. Please ask at the Visitor Desk for directions and assistance.
There is a lift from the Nave to the undercroft which can be used on request and under the supervision of Cathedral staff.
Service sheets for main acts of worship are available in large print by asking a steward.
The Cathedral has a hearing loop for people with hearing disabilities.
If you have any access issues or ideas you would like to raise with the Cathedral please email sharon.crofts@coventrycathedral.org.uk
Toilets
There are toilets near the restaurant, in St Michael's Hall, and under the steps up to the Ruins. Disabled and baby changing facilities are also available - please ask at the Visitor Centre.
New toilet facilities, baby changing and feeding areas will be provided as part of our Golden Jubilee programme of improvements.
Restaurant
We are currently in the process of improving our catering offer to visitors following the closure of Benedicts Café December 23rd 2011. Please watch this space for exciting developments in 2012.
