COVENTRY WAY PRAYERS
I rise today by the grace of God
and commit myself to walking in your ways.
Today, I pray…
for the Community of the Cross of Nails,
for areas of conflict and trauma,
for perpetrators of violence and for those who suffer,
and for peace and reconciliation amongst all peoples.
Today, I commit to learning…
from those who are different from me,
and from those whom I find it difficult to love.
Today, Lord, help me…
to heal the wounds of history,
to live with difference and celebrate diversity,
and to build a culture of peace
Lord, use me to be kind, tender-hearted and forgiving,
as God in Christ forgave me.
Litany of Reconciliation
(said at midday)
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
The hatred which divides nation from nation, race from race, class from class,
The covetous desires of people and nations to possess what is not their own,
The greed which exploits the work of human hands and lays waste the earth,
Our envy of the welfare and happiness of others,
Our indifference to the plight of the imprisoned, the homeless, the refugee,
The lust which dishonours the bodies of men, women and children,
The pride which leads us to trust in ourselves and not in God,
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
There is space in this prayer to contemplate your experiences from your day.
We also invite you to reflect on how your day has been influenced by the Morning Prayer.
I end this day by reflecting
On what I learned … [space for own reflection]
On how I served… [space for own reflection]
And by praying for… [space for own reflection]
Thank you Lord,
that even though we have all sinned and fallen short of your glory,
we still walk in the light of your grace and love.
Thank you Lord,
that you are kind, tender-hearted and forgiving of us
so that we can be kind, tender-hearted and forgiving of others and ourselves.
In the name of Christ, our Lord,
