Life here
Life at Coventry Cathedral is more than going to church on Sunday. Following our Benedictine tradition, we consider ourselves to be a 'Community'. This includes not only regular worshippers, but also paid staff, volunteers and everyone who is regularly engaged in work or service at the Cathedral.
A new constitution for the Cathedral came into being in 2000, and this set down the decision-making structures within which we operate, defines the roles of our church leaders and allows 'members' of the Community to elect lay (non-clergy) people to represent us on these bodies. The Community is served by the St Michael's Committee which is a statutory sub-committee of The Cathedral Chapter.
The Cathedral maintains both an Electoral Roll (just as any parish church) and also a 'Community Roll' which includes all those on the Electoral Roll and any of the other members of the Cathedral Community who wish to join it. Being a member of the electoral roll gives individuals certain rights; for example, to vote at the Annual General meeting or be married in the Cathedral. If you want to join the Electoral or Community roll, click The Cathedral Community.
Action, Fellowship and Fun
There are many, many opportunities to get involved in ways that enable you to pursue your interests, use and develop your skills, enable you to meet other people, and keep active whatever your age. Have a look at The Cathedral Community to see all the groups active in the Cathedral. Here you will find contact details to enable you to find out more information. New people are always welcome - come and join in!
If you have children or are under 25 years old, have a look at Under 25? to see the variety of activities we offer.
And if you are interested in volunteering here, have a look at our Volunteering Opportunities section to see what is available.
Finding out more about faith
As part of a worshipping community, we encourage individuals to explore and learn more about their faith. There are a number of study and fellowship groups available depending on where you are on your Christian journey. See Deepening Faith where you will find information about these groups and how to try them or join.
Seeking Support and Prayer?
The Cathedral Community has a network of Link Neighbour Groups that provide practical support (such as transport to the Cathedral), as well as fellowship, prayer and listening skills when members need it, close to their homes. For more information about Link Neighbour Groups, contact Canon Pastor Tim Pullen on 02476 521200.
