Good Morning. Welcome to Coventry Cathedral. An extraordinary place. A story you can't ignore.

Our people

Coventry Cathedral is led by the Dean of Coventry, The Very Reverend John Irvine, along with three residentiary Canons. The Cathedral has both paid staff and many hundreds of volunteers who all contribute to the life of this place, enabling people to visit and worship, maintaining its heritage and supporting the key ministries.

The Cathedral's Residentiary Canons are each responsible for different areas of the Cathedral's ministry:

  • Sub Dean and Canon Pastor - The Reverend Canon Tim Pullen is responsible for pastoral support to the Cathedral Community, for ministry among under 25's and for adult discipleship.
  • Canon Precentor - The Reverend Canon Dr David Stone is responsible for worship, designing services and music, including the Cathedral's choirs.
  • Canon Director of Reconciliation - Canon David Porter is Director of the Centre for Reconciliation and is responsible for leading the Cathedral's Reconciliation Ministry at home and abroad. He is also responsible for the Community of the Cross of Nails worldwide.

The day to day business and administration of the Cathedral is the responsibility of the Cathedral Administrator. Each Cathedral has an Administrator who is the senior lay member of staff and whose job it is to support the Dean and the Chapter, providing professional and administrative expertise in all matters other than ministry and worship. In Coventry, we call our Cathedral Administrator the Executive Director, a role which is currently held by Mrs Jane Woodward.

The Cathedral currently has a curate, the Reverend Becky Welch, who serves as a member of the clergy team. Pictures taken at Becky's ordination can be seen in the Gallery of Events.
