Good Morning. Welcome to Coventry Cathedral. An extraordinary place. A story you can't ignore.

Our vision

Ruins Window

In 2002, led by the Dean, we worked together as a community to identify a new Vision for Coventry Cathedral for the next 10 years. In consultation with many people and through prayer, we agreed that;

We are called to be a World Centre for Reconciliation and that this should be our overarching aim in everything we do.

We also believe we are called to be;

  • A place for spiritual renewal.
  • A resource for City, Diocese and Nation.
  • The home of a developing and nurtured community.
  • An experience that affects every visitor.

To achieve our vision we aim to:

  • Increase accessibility and attractiveness of worship at the Cathedral.
  • Encourage spiritual renewal and development of individuals.
  • Make the Cathedral a centre of musical excellence.
  • Provide a first class visitor attraction and place of pilgrimage that is unique, memorable and presents the good news of reconciliation to each and every visitor.
  • Improve facilities for all within the Cathedral.
  • Enhance and strengthen the International Ministry of Reconciliation.
  • Nurture, affirm and value the existing Cathedral Community.
  • Grow the Cathedral congregation and strengthen the cathedral as an organisation.
  • Develop our financial resources to achieve our Vision.
  • Develop and reinforce our people skills and capacity to achieve the Vision.

We are working hard to achieve our aims and by 2012, the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the new Cathedral, we expect to have made significant progress towards achieving our vision. For more information about our plans for 2012, see the Golden Jubilee section of our website.
